Alumni Story

Moving my body to music has always made me feel centered and free. When everything else fades away and only the present moment remains, I get goosebumps. Something very similar happens when the vibration of a singing bowl touches my body. There is a sense of peace, of arriving within myself. A state that somehow feels like the most natural version of who I am. My journey to Nepal began with an intuitive decision. I quit my job and followed a feeling without knowing exactly where it would lead me. The decision to travel into the mountains and learn the art of singing bowls with Gerrit came in much the same way. Looking back, Nepal was one of the most moving journeys of my life. Something within me was set into motion. Perhaps quite literally through the vibrations of the bowls.

I learned what it can feel like to be in resonance with life: to notice change, respond to it and move with it instead of trying to control everything. This way of living has stayed with me and continues to bring more ease and trust into my life. Eventually, it also led me to create my own path as a coach, integrating singing bowls, sound and meditation into my work. I believe that sometimes we get stuck in life and forget how to follow our natural flow. For me, letting go of control and fear and finding our own rhythm again are essential parts of feeling truly alive. Singing bowls can gently remind us of that. My clients often tell me that it was the first time in weeks that they had truly felt relaxed and experienced a state where their mind became quiet.

I feel deeply grateful for my time in the mountains and for everything I learned from Gerrit. Beyond the theory and practical knowledge of working with singing bowls, he showed me something about how self-determined life can be and what it can feel like to live in connection with nature, ourselves and the people around us. Do you know those people who somehow stay with you? The ones who inspire you long after you have left and who you find yourself thinking about from time to time? Gerrit is one of those people for me. And if there is one feeling I carried home from Nepal, it is this: Everything is possible.
